بررسی ارتباط بین سطح هورمونهای تیروئید و مرگ و میر در بخش مراقبتهای ویژه

Some conditions and diseases such as renal and hepatic disorders, Diabetes mellitus and severe illnesses can vary thyroid hormones level. Patients in intensive care unit that most of them are ill and with various acute diseases are prone to these varations. In some studies, relation between these variations and prognosis was issued. This research was performed to investigate wether relation is between these variations and mortality in ICU.     For reaching to our object, we studied 100 patients who admitted in ICU in 3 months of autumn in 1999. The type of the study was cross-sectional. Level of TSH, total T4 and free T3 hormones are measured.     From 100 patients, 64% were alive, 36% were died and 32% were with sick euthyroid syndrome. The results indicate that there is not significant association between thyroid hormones level variations (sick euthyroid syndrome) and mortality in ICU.
